all is good and blest (a creation primer)

one, two,
three, four,
five, six
— rest
earth and sky
simple as pie
all is good and blest

day, night
waters, sky
land, sea
— space
chaos tamed
formed and framed
for everything a place

sun, moon
fish, birds,
animals, people
— there:
a temple shaped
and formed and filled
with priests to give it care

seventh day
a day to stop
and savor what god’s made
receive, embrace
all gifts of grace
in this good world displayed

one, two,
three, four,
five, six
— rest
earth and sky
simple as pie
all is good and blest

  1. Christiane says

    ‘the simplicity of God’ . . . . God is love . . . .

. . . do we tend to over-sentimentalize our faith? with emotional appeals rather than pointing to the reality of the ‘costs’ of service in
    “a temple shaped
    and formed and filled
with priests to give it care” ?

take a look at Father Damien of Molokai BEFORE and AFTER his service to the lepers of the colony on Molokai in Hawaii:
Here is a picture of him at the END of his service, when he was able to say to his congregation: ‘fellow lepers’

what did he look like when he FIRST volunteered to go to Molokai as a young priest? What did he look like BEFORE Damien stopped to

    “receive, embrace
    all gifts of grace
    in this good world displayed”

    take a look:

sometimes, there ARE no ‘words’ in response to ‘over-sentimentalizing’, but the REALITY of a life of grace lived in a broken world, in service to God is better seen for oneself . . . so we know . . . . so we know

  2. David Cornwell says

Yes! All is good and blest. Creation!

  3. This has a fun Beatleseque “Yellow Submarine” vibe to it. Love it!
